Katie Holmes, Natalie Portman & Jennifer Garner Receive Variety Honors

Several of Hollywood’s sought after and leading actresses and some power players made it to having an impact on the box office charts and even beyond it. This year’s most distinguished included Natalie Portman, Jennifer Garner, Katie Holmes, Eva Mendes, Amy Adams, Diane Lane and Suzan Bymel.

Variety will be honoring these actresses at its second Power of Women luncheon on September 30. The awarding will be held at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

Michelle Sobrino, the Variety’s associate publisher stated explained, “By honoring this incredible group of high-profile women who are leading the charge, we hope to inspire and empower within our industry – and throughout the world – to get involved and give back.”
Portman is one of the chosen women because of her involvement with FINCA. Though she’s been rumored to be getting some Oscar awards with her movie “Black Swan,” the actress makes a way to work with this “microfinance organization that provides business loans to low-income entrepreneurs.”

Garner is also chosen because of her participation with Save the Children. She is recognized for helping this organization, a multipronged charitable force for underprivileged kids.

Holmes also is recognized for her partaking in the Dizzy Feet Foundation which “works to support and fund dance in the US.” The actress also counted in Nigel Lythgoe, Adam Shankman, and Carrie Ann Inaba as collaborators.

Mendes is also chosen by the team because of her involvement in Art of Elysium which “encourages artists and actors to work with children battling with mental conditions.”

Adams is also included because of her participation with Ghetto Film School which develops young filmmaking talents. Lane, for supporting Heifer International which “gives livestock and training to poverty-stricken families around the globe. Bymel, being a founding partner of a talent company, Management 360, which is saluted for its contributions to the Global Creative Forum.

Katie Holmes To Be On Glee, Cheryl Cole’s Malaria Attacked

Katie Holmes is reportedly negotiating a deal to be part of Glee on it’s second season. She will be feature in a five-part guest spot. The Dawson creek album was allegedly close to Glee actress Diana Argon (who plays cheerleader Quinn Fabray). Through Diana, Katie build a friendship with Glee’s creator Ryan Murphy.

According to National Enquirer:

“Katie is finalizing a deal to join the cast for a limited story line next season. Katie’s film career has stalled, and she’s desperately needs a career boost. She’s hoping a stint on Glee will jumpstart her standing in Hollywood.”

A source also added that Katie is taking up dancing lessons three times a week from acclaimed choreographer Tyce Diorio and also hired a private singing coach.

Would Glee be the tool to boost Katie Holmes career?

Cheryl Cole is being treated for being contracted with malaria, after taking a trip to Tanzania with ‘Dancing With The Stars’ pro Derek Hough a few weeks ago.

She is now being treated in London hospital according to a spokesman of Ms. Cole. She had cancelled all work commitments for the next week, the spokesman added.

Cheryl collapses during a photo shoot for her new album, the doctors ordered her to get some rest. According to the UK ‘s The Sun, Cole’s condition soon turn to worse and was rushed to the hospital after drifting in and out of consciousness.

Knight and Day premiered in Spain on Wednesday (June 16) at the Lope de Vega Theater in Seville.

Tom Cruise walked the red carpet wearing Armani, with his wife, Katie Holmes, donned in Azzedine Alaia from head to toe.

Tom was later joined by her co-star Cameron Diaz (who is the subject of this month’s Playboy interview) who only had great things to say about Tom:

“Tom is super. He’s a special person. He’s passionate about making movies and passionate about his family,” Cam shared. “Those are the two most important things in his life, and he lives that. Working with Tom drove me to want to show up every day as driven and excited as he does.”

In other magazine news, Anna Paquin is next month’s cover of SELF magazine. It will be sold in stands starting June 22. catch the 22-year old TRUE BLOOD star as she shares what it’s like to suck vampire blood all the time:

“I get a kick out of it, but the actual blood makes me want to gag! It’s some kind of sweet corn syrup, I think, with an aftertaste that’s less than pleasant after the 10th take. In season one, they asked me if I wanted sugar or sugar-free. I was, like, “Sugar-free blood? Sounds great!” Big mistake. Because then it only tastes like the latex tubes it’s coming through.”

Eeewwww…so that’s what it’s like to be Bill’s girlfriend.
Does this mean she drinks with sugar now?

“By the next scene! I was feeding ravenously from Bill’s arm, so I drank probably a gallon. Never again.”

So what has been happening at the red carpet events lately? Well, on Monday night, June 14, Jennifer Lopez looked pretty and thin when she arrived with her gorgeous husband Marc Anthony at the Spring Benefit Concert and Awards Ceremony held in Apollo Theater in New Yorl City.

She looked so golden and stunning in her Gianfranco Ferre dress, which she paired with a pair of pumps by Sergio Rossi, clutch by Etro clutch and jewelry by Roberto Cavalli.

The adorable couple Jennifer and March attended the said event hosted by Jamie Foxx as they were honored with the Ruby Dee & Ossie Davis Arts and Humanitarian Award. How awesome is that? And just yesterday, they were also part of the Puerto Rican Day Parade. Busy Monday for Jen and March, huh?

On another related red carpet event the previous day, (June 13) Katie Holmes and Daniel Radcliffe posed together as they presented at the Tony Awards held at NYC’s Radio City Music Hall on Sunday. Katie looked pretty as she donned a Giorgio Armani Privé smoke grey strapless silk chiffon evening gown, which she paired with a Lanvin handbag while Daniel wore an Ozwald Boateng suit. The cute twosome presented the award for Featured Actress in a Play to Scarlett Johansson for her work in the play A View From The Bridge.

It’s just too bad that Daniel looked too short next to statuesque Katie. But I guess we’re all used to that since the 31-year old actress and mother of Suri is married to quite a short guy as well (Tom Cruise). They still look amazing though!

Tom Cruise, Katie, Fergie and MTV Movie Awards Hilarity!

Fergie had a concert earlier in the evening (May 28) held at the 02 Arena which Tom Cruise and wife Katie Holmes attended. Fergie spotted the couple and called on Tom to go up the stage.

Tom was so hilarious when he said:

“Fergie invited me on stage, like, ‘don’t be a wimp’ … I wasn’t going to be that guy,” Tom shared. “I was singing, but I won’t give up my day job.”

The other day (May 27, Thursday) Tom Cruise and Katie Homes sandwiched Fergie as they partied the night away in London. Looks like the parents of young Suri Cruise do deserve to go on a night of town.

Furthermore, Tom Cruise goes back to the Risky Business set slated for this super funny promo for the upcoming 2010 MTV Movie Awards.

It’s just so hilarious!

The 47-year-old actor reprises Tropic Thunder role as studio exec Les Grossman.

Tom Cruise Proud Dad to Bella

The ever dashing Hollywood heartthrob Tom Cruise is very confident that his 17 year old daughter Bella will not fall in love with bad boys. He’s very proud that his teenager is very ‘sensible’ and has clear judgment with regards to the matters of the heart. The Mission: Impossible actor has two adopted children with former wife Nicole Kidman – Bella, 17, and Connor, 15. This is aside from his 4 year old daughter Suri, who he had with current wife Katie Holmes.

As a 47 year old dad, Tom Cruise revealed that he is really a proud father when it comes to Bella. He enthused that: “Bella has a very strong sense of herself…She’s a good girl, so whoever she likes, it’s cool”. However, Tom did not hide his concerns about his 15 year old son Connor – who seems to be following his dad’s footsteps as an aspiring actor. With regards to dating, Tom says Connor is smart but dating should have another time in his calendar.

Although dating is still too far away a worry for Suri, Tom observed that his youngest child is very strong-willed when it comes to her clothes. In the Oprah Winfrey Show, Tom Cruise shared that anything Suri wants to wear – “she wears it”. Tom would not want to insist: “‘m not going to tell her different. She’s got great taste too. She tells me what to wear.”

At this point of Tom’s life, he revealed that he’s already contented with everything: “Life is very good. I’m very happy. Kids are growing up, love my wife. I feel very lucky.” Tom is currently promoting a new flick he shot with Cameron Diaz – Knight and Day. This film will be shown on June 25.

“I’m not just Tom Cruise‘s wife!” may be the mantra of Katie Holmes these days as she is ambitious to put a “slash singer” in her resume! Yes, Katie Holmes tried dancing in a reality TV show and now, she’s considering to do vocal calisthenics in her next film project. She’s got her rah-rah boy with her in the person of Elijah Wood who’s starring with her in a new film called The Romantics.

Katie Holmes was quoted to be saying that it would be both “incredible” and “fun” for her to try out singing. And Elijah supported her to which they agreed on maybe making a musical together. Oh jeez… We just hope you two will get a good vocal coach because you won’t want your viewers’ ears to bleed!

Olly has brought out the once Dawson’s Creek star – who’s got hitched with to Tom Cruise – is his ideal woman for he was such a great buff of the US teen drama series.

The 25-year-old singer – who ended up runner-up on Simon Cowell’s UK TV talent show The X Factor – alleged:

Katie Holmes is very attractive. And I was a massive ‘Dawson’s Creek’ fan, I’ve got every series and Katie was one of my favourites.

Olly, who’s presently single, also has a crush on Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie – who’s hook up with to Josh Duhamel.
