Selena Gomez prefers her friend Justin Bieber to win, of course!
Selena Gomez does not mince words to voice out her preference as to who she wants to win the Best New Artist trophy in the much-awaited music event next year – the Grammy Awards that’s scheduled on the 13th of February 2011.
In an interview with MTV, Selena shared that her preference for her friend has a valid reason – she knows how hard the 16 year old Canadian pop star is working to perfect his musical craft. Selena is also nominated but she has relented hopes of winning. Despite that, she’s still so thrilled about the prospect of being noticed for her singing stints.
More about Selena Gomez, it’s very pleasant to know that she finds time to give back to others, aside from being busy with her television shows, movies in the making and her singing career. In fact, she also is going her way to help raise money for the underprivileged children across the world through UNICEF.
At 18, Selena is the new and youngest ambassador of UNICEF. She’s been with them for the past 3 years and she has been to Ghana and other countries in need of support and programs of UNICEF. Recently, she designed a t-shirt for them to further help spread the word about their programs.
As of the moment, Selena’s working on convincing other teens like her to get involved in UNICEF’s “Trick or Treat” Fundraiser, it aims to raise money for the programs of UNICEF. For the past years, the said fundraiser has raised $160 million. Two months ago, Selena was a guest on CNN with Kyra Phillips, and she shared her goals for UNICEF. The one story that struck her was when a 14 year old kid went around his community to ask people to send him to school, at one point a shot gun was pointed at his head. That’s when Selena felt that she was blessed to be in school, she remembered the days when she hated doing homework’s and other school projects, “it made me realize I was so blessed, to be in school and to have a good career, it’s time that I share to others my blessings.” Keep up the good work Selena!
