Facebook wants to be your homepage - Cory Monteith hosting gig
Facebook wants to dominate every browser’s homepage.
After intensifying its email venture to pulverize Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo, Facebook seems unstoppable to become the world’s most visited website. If you haven’t opened your Facebook account today, there’s an odd pop out above its header inviting you to drag an icon to your home button in your web browser. Doing this, you will instantly have Facebook as your homepage!
Nothing wrong with it, but it is kind of ‘sneaky’ tactic of Facebook to lure its more than 500 million users to set their homepage directly at the social networking giant. TechCrunch hinted that: “Google and other search engines benefit greatly from being a genuine starting point to the rest of the Web, which is why so many people select such services to come up as soon as they open their Web browser.”
For us, it’s kind of intrusive to have a social networking site as your homepage. We often need a time out from having TMI from friends and acquaintance. So Facebook addicts, will you be sliding up that little Facebook icon as your homepage?
Cory Monteith eyeing hosting career after Glee?
Cory Monteith has a lot of singing to do in his career. He is one of the lead actors in the biggest and hottest shows on TV – Glee – where he is being paired with Lea Michelle. Being part of Glee made Monteith one of the famous faces on television and got him the chance to be an emcee at this year’s Gemini Awards.
His hosting gig at the Gemini’s , according to him, was not what he expected. He was settled on being ‘Finn’ on Glee, the singing soccer player of the club. Monteith shares, “I’m over the moon to be hosting the Geminis.” This hosting gig is an all new experience for the actor and he could not feel anything but excited. He added, “It was a real ‘pinch me’ moment when they asked me to host the Geminis.”
Moreover, the actor begged his set at Glee to move the time of their shoots so that he could do her hosting gig at Geminis. He confesses, “I begged and begged to get the time off, so I could host.”Monteith is a “fine balance of musical, comedy and drama.” Glee had a total of 19 nominations in last year’s Emmy Awards and won the Golden Globe Award in January for best comedy series. These recognitions are enough for Monteith and recognition of his own talent (not with the Glee cast) is just complimentary of what he actually can do, that is singing.
