A spokesperson states in order for a photo to qualify as revenge porn an employee of Facebook must view the image first for themselves.

The identifier is used to block any further distribution on Facebook, Instagram and Messenger as a pre-emptive strike against revenge porn, a common method of abuse and exploitation online.

The company is partnering with a small Australian Government agency for a pilot project created to prevent sexual or intimate images being shared without the subject's consent. So to clarify, someone at Facebook is indeed looking at the nude photos, but the company stresses that these are "specially trained representatives".

We can all agree that the recent spike in revenge porn is something that needs to be tackled in the tech-world, which is exactly why Facebook have come through with a solution to the problem.

This imprint will then flag up through messenger and automatically stop it being shared on Facebook, Facebook Messenger and Instagram. Once the image has been hashed, Facebook notifies the person who submitted the photo and asks them to delete the photo from Messenger.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte right to drop David Luiz, says Ray Wilkins
It's only a tactical decision . "I must take the best decision for the club, not for a single player". DAVID LUIZ still managed to smile - despite Antonio Conte plunging his Chelsea future into doubt.

The new initiative is now being piloted in Australia in partnership with the Office of the eSafety Commissioner. They're storing the link and using artificial intelligence and other photo-matching technologies.

The company is hoping that using the technology will save users the agony of having the pictures deleted only after reporting them to Facebook.

On the other hand, eSafety commissioner Julie Inman Grant told AFP, "It removes control and power from the perpetrator who is ostensibly trying to amplify the humiliation of the victim amongst friends, family and colleagues".

"With its billions of users, Facebook is one place where many offenders aggress because they can maximize the harm by broadcasting the nonconsensual porn to those most close to the victim".
