The ZTE Axon M has two 5.2-inch Full HD displays, and that is the highlight of the phone. While the handset doesn't feature the best hardware to date, the Shenzhen-based original equipment manufacturer isn't highlighting its basic internal specs as some of its selling points.
One thing is for sure - the ZTE Axon M is one of the most exciting and unique mobile devices we've seen in a while. The Axon M is an ordinary Android smartphone on the software front, but it makes use of two 5.2-inch Full HD displays to provide a much larger usable screen area, nearly like a tablet.
Coming to the specifications, the Axon M features a 5.2-inch Full HD LCD display, which can be unfolded to give a viewing area of 6.75 inches. Usually, a smartphone has one display and we'll sit here and argue about its resolution or bezels or some other nonsense. The Extended mode combines the two displays into one, extending content across both screens. When you fold it out, you get an identical 5.2-inch display that, when not in use, folds around the back and just turns this phone into a glass sandwich.
ZTE said it will work with developers on apps that can take advantage of the dual-screen functionality of the Android phone. The Dual mode allows users to run two different applications simultaneously on the two separate displays.
The device comes with a dual-display design which can be folded into a traditional smartphone. These screens not only make the display bigger but also provide a next generation interactive interface. The company didn't confirm the MRP of the phone.
Iran tension and doubts over Iraq supplies stabilise oil prices
The American Petroleum Institute (API), an industry trade group, will release USA weekly petroleum inventory data at 4:30 p.m. Oil prices rose after Iraqi forces entered Kirkuk, briefly cutting some crude output from OPEC's second-biggest producer.
As for the rest of the device, the Axon M has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor under the hood, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of built-in storage. The device runs Android 7.1.2 Nougat and there is a single 20MP camera onboard that acts as both front-facing and rear camera, thanks to the hinged design.
The Axon M is exclusive to AT&T customers in the USA and is set to hit availability in November. Samsung has been working on a phone with foldable display since a decade, called Galaxy X.
On the downside however, such a setup means the Axon M is quite thick at 12.1mm and heavy at 230g.
ZTE has revealed that the phone will be offered in the United States (via AT&T), Japan, China and Europe. The device is powered by a non removable 3180mAh battery which is Quick Charge 3.0 compatible.
