Trump added that he had seen images of Irma's impact on the U.S. Virgin Islands on Saturday morning.

President Donald Trump's Mar-A-Lago resort is evacuating ahead of Hurricane Irma making landfall.

President Donald Trump once said he got $17 million in a hurricane damage insurance payout for his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, but an Associated Press investigation couldn't find much evidence of the supposed damage.

Mandatory evacuation for the entire town remains in effect.

In a statement issued to CNN's Betsy Klein on Friday, a spokesperson for the Trump Organization announced that the Palm Beach seaside club would be closed, as well as two other properties owned by the group in Florida.

This weekend, Trump hotels and clubs could be battered by Hurricane Irma, already one of the most powerful storms on record. At this point, the question is not will Mar-A-Lago be hit by Irma, but how hard? Please relocate west of US-1 until this storm passes if you do not plan to depart the county/state.

5.6-magnitude quake detected in North Korea
The North has repeatedly claimed that it has a thermonuclear weapon, which can be far more powerful than other nuclear devices. In January 2016, North Korea conducted its fourth nuclear test, which Pyongyang claimed to be a test of a hydrogen bomb.

Mar-a-Lago, Trump's splendid winter home, has weathered its share of storms.

"Irma is a potentially catastrophic category 5 hurricane and will bring life-threatening wind, storm surge, and rainfall hazards" to areas it might affect, the National Hurricane Center says. "I was there for all of [the hurricanes]".

Mar-a-Lago, which overlooks the ocean on Palm Beach, was built in 1927.

Irma, which is now is battering the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico with 185-mph winds, landed in Barbuda earlier today.

Trump has not commented on the evacuation of his property, though he has been active in tweeting about Irma.

A White House official said Trump would continue to receive regular updates on Hurricanes Irma and Jose.
