Supreme Leader endorses Rouhani as Iran's President

The deal reduced the friction between Iran and the West but the election of Donald Trump as president of the United States has reignited the debate over the nuclear program and Tehran's regional policy.

It was previously reported that Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated Hassan Rouhani on the occasion of his victory in the election and becoming Iran's President for the next term.

The endorsement ceremony will be followed by a public inauguration on August 5 in the Iranian parliament, where Rouhani will take his public oath of office in front of Iranian lawmakers and foreign dignitaries from 92 countries.

After being sworn in on Saturday, Rouhani will have two weeks to present his Cabinet to the Parliament for a vote of confidence.

Iran's 12 presidential election was held on May 19.

During the event, Rouhani received his validation edict from the Leader and was officially validated into the office for the second time.

"I comply with the choice of the Iranian people, approve the results of the vote and appoint Hassan Rouhani the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran", Khamenei's decree said, as read out by his Chief of Staff Mohammadi Golpayegani.

"Iranian officials have succeeded to work with world despite enemy's efforts", Ayatollah Khamenei said, adding that officials must never neglect enemy's efforts against the country.

He then urged the new administration to move forward with plan and meet the needs of the nation; "unite the people and be open to critics".
