Pak. accuses India of targeting civilians

Targeting the civilian population of the valley, Indian army opened unprovoked firing along Line of Control (LOC) in Chirikot and Satwal sector killing two civilians including a 22-year old girl and injuring three others.

The army men effectively and strongly retaliated, Mehta said. "The couple's two children were injured when a shell fired from across the border hit their house on the LoC in Gulpur area", the Jammu and Kashmir police said. The martyred jawan had come home on leave.

Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Tariq Ahmad Zargar, told New Indian Express that the Pakistani troops firing and mortar shelling stopped at around 10.30 am.

Earlier, Pakistan accused India of violating the ceasefire along the LoC in Pakistan-administered Kashmir in which two persons were killed and three others injured, Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson said in a statement. In another incident, three soldiers were injured after the terrorists attacked an Army patrol in Bandipora.

The Indian firing and shelling occurred a day after the first martyrdom anniversary of Hizbul Mujahideen Commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani was observed with the renewed pledge to continue his mission till the success of Kashmir liberation struggle.
