"I think we hit a home run no matter where we went", Mr. Trump said at Naval Air Station Sigonella, in Sicily.

Five stops in nine days- President Trump is headed back to the U.S.

From left, President of the European Council Donald Tusk gesticulates as he talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French newly elected President Emmanuel Macron, partially hidden, British PM Theresa May, and US President Donal Trump prior to the start of the leaders of the G7 countries summit in the Sicilian citadel of Taormina, Italy, Friday, May 26, 2017.

"We're thrilled to be here right now and we're getting on that very big plane and we're heading back to Washington and the United States".

Donald Trump is the embodiment of an America that is falling behind, while the rest of the world is passing him by.

During the summit he didn't mention support for Article 5, which is NATO's commitment to mutual defense in the event of an attack on a member. He also reiterated the USA commitment to the North Atlantic alliance.

"Many NATO countries have agreed to step up payments considerably, as they should".

Trump was cajoled for three days - first in Brussels at meetings of North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and the European Union, then in Sicily for G-7 - but will leave Italy without making clear where he stands.

"It was a tremendously productive meeting where I strengthened America's bonds", the president said. We have great bonds with other countries.

"I found him very willing to engage, very curious, with an ability and desire to ask questions and to learn from all his interlocutors", said Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni, the G7 summit's host.

The president thanked the troops and their families for their service to the country and vowed that the US will "win" the fight against terrorism.

Censuring the deal, however, US Democratic Senator Chris Murphy of CT wrote in an article published last Saturday by Huffington Post that "It appears the Trump administration is counting on the country with the worst human rights record in the region to enforce peace and security in the Middle East", describing the arms sale as "a awful idea". The gold belt was the first of many belts in the trip.

The president mentioned the terrorist attack Monday in Manchester, England.

Trump's rally on Saturday was full of his campaign rally theatrics with Marine One taxiing to the terminal as the theme song for "Air Force One" played in the background and the audience of hundreds of service members and their families looked on.

Leaders of seven wealthy democracies have reached a deal to give the Trump administration more time to tell them whether the United States plans to stay in the Paris climate agreement.
