U.S. President Donald Trump speaks about the apparent attack in Manchester, England, before his remarks alongside Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas after their meeting at the Presidential Palace in the West Bank city of Bethlehem May 23, 2017.

After years of butting heads with Trump's predecessor, Netanyahu celebrated a new American president's arrival as a moment of hope in the stalled peace talks between Israel and Palestinians.

Expressing optimism that a peace deal could finally be brokered to end the almost 70-year-old conflict and suggested a resolution may not be hard to obtain it. It's not easy. I've heard it's one of the toughest deals of all, but I have a feeling that we're going to get there eventually, I hope. The Palestinians also claim east Jerusalem as their capital and previous USA administrations have said the area's fate must be decided through negotiations.

"We are ready to open dialogue with our Israeli neighbours to build confidence and create a real opportunity for peace", he said after talks with Trump.

"Making peace however will not be easy", Trump told an audience of Israeli politicians and other dignitaries at the Israel Museum.

"Hey, folks", Trump said.

Trump has sent mixed signals about how he will approach the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attempted, unsuccessfully, to swat Hazan's arm away.

Dr. Samuel Rodriquez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, said in a statement.

The future status of Jerusalem is one of the major unresolved issues in whether the Israelis and Palestinians can reach a two-state solution.

Israel occupied east Jerusalem, where the Western Wall is located, and the West Bank in 1967 in moves never recognized by the global community.

It later annexed east Jerusalem in a move never recognised by the global community and claims the entire city as its capital. "Today, this right, ultra-right-wing government has frozen settlement construction and has given Palestinians construction in Area C", Herzog said, referring to recent moves by Netanyahu's conservative governing coalition. His meeting with authorities in Palestinian territory was listed as taking place in Israel, noted the Jerusalem Post.

The White House struggled to answer the question.
