Xiaomi Redmi 4, Mi Router 3C unveiled in India

The Xiaomi Redmi 4 was first launched in China in November a year ago.

The 2GB RAM with 16GB of internal storage variant is priced at 699 Yuan, which is approximately Rs 6,792 and for 3GB RAM with 32GB of internal storage version, one has to pay 899 Yuan (approximately Rs 8,735).

Xiaomi Redmi 4 sports an all-metal body with 5-inch HD display and 2.5D curved glass on top.

Having sold 4 million smartphones in the first quarter and with expectations of selling around 8 million units just from the Redmi 4 series this year, the company expects to easily surpass the units it sold last year.

It has a 13MP rear camera with f2.0 aperture, phase detection auto focus and single LED flash capable of recording full HD video. It also has a 5MP front-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture. Redmi 4 runs on Android 6.0.1 with MIUI 8 and will be upgraded to Android N very soon.

Combined with the low-power processors and low-resolution screens, both phones should have great battery life in real-world usage. Also, the Plus variant comes in either 1GB or 2GB of RAM while the standard variant is limited only to 1GB of RAM .

The company also launched the Mi Router 3C in India, which is priced at INR 1,199.

Commenting on the launch, Xiaomi Vice President and India Managing Director Manu Jain said, "We are committed to launching several of our ecosystem products in India, and bringing technological innovations to everyone". The company has announced features, specs, pricing and partner in this event.

Connectivity options on the device include dual-SIM card slots (hybrid SIM setup), 4G with VoLTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Global Positioning System.

Eager buyers in Bengaluru can pre-book the Redmi 4 at Rs 1000 via Xiaomi's site and pick it up via the Mi Home store on launch day. Amazon India has already put up a page with "Notify Me" live button, where interested customers can register for notifications about the Xiaomi's next Redmi smartphone. All of the above is powered by a 4,100 mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 3.0 for faster charging. Router 3C comes with a 300Mbps transmission speed and can support up to 64 devices at a time.

On the connectivity front, this device offers features like Bluetooth 4.1, and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n for connectivity. There's also a rear fingerprint scanner.
