Well, kind of. The head coach made an appearance at Warriors practice on Saturday and San Jose Mercury News beat writer Anthony Slater reported that Kerr has been involved in team meetings the last two days. On Sunday, dressed in jeans and Warriors sweatshirt, Kerr watched the first half from the bowels of the Oracle Arena.
"For me, more than anything else, it was great to see him out here, especially during practice walking around, talking to guys", added Warriors interim head coach Mike Brown. He's now recovering from the latest procedure to alleviate debilitating back pain stemming from the botched back surgeries that caused him to miss the first 43 games of the 2015-16 season.
Desperate for an end to the head and neck pain that has long plagued him, Kerr underwent a spinal cord leak procedure May 5 at Duke University.
Despite their time off, the Warriors looked sloppy in the first half against San Antonio and Gregg Popovich's squad jumped out to a huge 62-42 lead at the half. "It's been very hard for him, and he's shown a lot of courage getting through what he's gotten through".
"For me it's a little different because I hear his voice a couple times a day", Brown said. "I hope he's feeling better". You really enjoy that, because he's our leader. "Not just the players, but us as a staff, so it was good to see him out here today".
No US plane allowed to fly
The Astana talks were meant to shore up an oft-violated ceasefire which was originally agreed in December. But US participation has been lacking and Syrian rebel groups are not stakeholders.
More than anything, the Golden State family was happy to see his face and hear his voice.
Steph Curry finished the game with 40 points, 19 of which came in the third quarter.
Key Matchup: Leonard vs. Durant, Curry or Thompson.
It is also worth noting that the ailing Kerr was present at a coaches' meeting on Friday as well.
