A senior leader in Panneerselvam's camp, KP Munusamy, said the rival camp now led by Chief Minister K Palaniswami must secure the resignation of the jailed Sasikala and her nephew Dinakaran from their party posts.

"We demand that an affidavit be submitted by the other camp stating that Sasikala and TTV Dinakaran no longer hold party position to the Election Commission". After meeting the OPS faction, the ministers from EPS led faction has agreed to sideline Sasikala and her family.

His alleged attempt to bribe the EC with Rs 50 crore to defreeze the "two leaves" symbol and allot it to him got him and his party in deep trouble and spurred both the factions of the AIADMK to initiate merger talks.

Panneerselvam on Wednesday said the ouster of the rival AIADMK faction's two leaders was his faction's first victory in the "dharma yudh". "When they make such sudden announcement there must be some fear", he said, adding, the revolt was a decision made in a "hurry".

He also said as everybody chose to keep him out of the party affairs, he has made a decision to stay out.

The marked silence of AIADMK's deputy general secretary TTV Dinakaran put AIADMK's merger in suspense. Given that there were accusations of widespread bribery from his faction of the AIADMK in the run-up to the polls, which were subsequently cancelled, this comes as little surprise. We want the future governments to be corrupt-free and the issue of dropping a minister whose house was raided by the income tax authorities will also be discussed.

Police arrest 12 year old boy driving solo across NSW
Highway patrol officers stopped the boy in Broken Hill when they noticed the car's bumper was dragging on the ground. Police said he was driving to the west coast city of Perth, more than 4,100 kilometers (2,500 miles) from Kendall.

"We have chose to delink T.T.V. Dinakaran and his family from the party; a committee will run the party".

Meanwhile, Thambidurai, Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha, and minister D Jayakumar separately called on Tamil Nadu Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao today, but insisted their meetings were not political.

Dinakaran is the nephew of the party's general secretary VK Sasikala, who is now in jail after she was found guilty in a disproportionate assets case. He added that the Palaniswami camp had not set any pre-conditions for talks and that the camp was "happy to sit for discussions".

Defence counsel Ashwini Kumar and M. Theepa also told court that police are not allowing them to meet him.

When asked for a comment, AIADMK (Amma) spokesperson Theeran says, "It happens in politics as they tend say to react on the spur of the moment". However, loyalists of Mr TTV Dinakaran have declined to accept the decision.

The OPS faction claims that merger talks have not started between the two factions and subtly hinted about OPS having the people's mandate to become CM.
