A Palestinian teenager was shot dead by Israeli forces during clashes in the Israeli-occupied West Bank on Thursday, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The US-Israeli agreement under discussion is expected to be announced with a set of economic and development projects in the Palestinian territories with an emphasis on Gaza, the officials said.

"The resolution calls on Israel to take steps 'to cease all settlements activities in the occupied Palestinian territory including east Jerusalem.' No such steps have been taken during the reporting period", Mladenov told the council in his first report on the implementation of the document passed in December.

At that meeting, Trump also broke with decades of USA policy by saying he was not bound to a two-state solution to the conflict and would be open to one state if it meant peace.

German governments have made strong relations with Israel a top priority ever since World War Two, going to great lengths to make amends for the killing of six million Jews by the Nazis.

Trump's special envoy, Jason Greenblatt, led the USA delegation in the talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's chief of staff Yoav Horowitz and foreign policy adviser Jonathan Schachter.

Israel disagrees, citing historical and political links to the land, as well as security interests.

The Palestinians want an independent state in the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem.

In December, the United Nations passed a resolution that slammed Israeli settlements as a "flagrant violation" of worldwide law.

Dan Shapiro, the U.S. ambassador to Israel from August 2011 to January 2017, told Reuters in an interview published Thursday that so far, Trump's "approach on the Israeli-Palestinian issue has been more cautious and more responsible than nearly anything else".
