This is a fitting First Four game as it's pretty much a toss-up, pitting the KenPom No. 29 team in Kansas State against No. 30 Wake Forest.

First, the New Orleans Privateers (20-11) and Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers (19-15) face off in a battle of 16s, with the victor facing overall No. 1-seed Villanova in the East Region. The program fell on hard times after Hurricane Katrina ravaged the city and campus in 2005, and New Orleans finished 10-20 last season before the stunning turnaround.

"Kansas is up tempo this year", Weber said.

Nine of the ACC's 15 teams made it to the NCAA Tournament.

Many believe he can be a first-round pick in June's National Basketball Association draft. Those two teams enter the NCAA tournament as a No. 8 seed (Miami) and a No. 9 seed (Virginia Tech). But no way they should be taking 334 and 318 shots to Wade's 223. "People find out I play for coach Manning, and that's the first thing that pops up". He scored a game-high 26 points. I told him too, this is about his career.

"I feel like our nerves went out the window once we saw our names pop up on the screen", Woods said.

The Wake Forest women's basketball team, which will host Bethune-Cookman at the Coliseum on Thursday in the WNIT, will greet students as they arrive.

He wasn't anxious about the opponent or destination.

The Big 12 had one team on the NCAA bubble. They didn't exactly blow the doors in with a 20-13 record, 8-10 in the Big 12.

But the Demon Deacons (19-14) couldn't seem to make a play to take the lead. "You really can't worry about it because you can't control it".

Rowland said that the authorities are nowhere near finding a good lead that might help them track down Tad Cummins and his victim. The sheriff said Cummins may have begun plotting to leave with Elizabeth after he was suspended from his teaching job.

Eleventh-seeded K-State (21-13) got its first NCAA Tournament win in five years and a trip to play No. 6 Cincinnati on Friday in Sacramento as part of the South Regional.

Manning certainly is highly familiar with the opponent. The victor will face the No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks in the Round of 64.

"Hoping K-State does well they've had kind of a disappointing season so far hoping they win this game because it may save Bruce Webers job for one", said K-State fan Bill Schafer. "I remember going in there and ducking some live chickens, also some not-so-live ones out of a KFC bucket or whatever". In fact, it beat Baylor twice, and it appears that the win over the Bears in the Big 12 tournament may have gotten the Wildcats into the field.

A conference that is supposed to be among America's best should perform a lot better in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Sophomores Barry Brown and Kamau Stokes score in double figures, but K-State struggles to score beyond its starting five.

It could have been the last game in K-State purple for Wesley Iwundu, D.J. It wouldn't be at all surprising to see the talented John Collins go off in a big way and put on a show but the bottom line is this game should wind up being a close one in order to get to the main draw.

"I'm telling them it's an advantage", Weber said. We were picked ninth in the league beforehand, but we finished ahead of that prediction.

How North Carolina Central got here: The Eagles transitioned from Division II to Division I, then joined the MEAC in 2012. The 6-foot-10 Wake Forest sophomore averages 18.9 points and 9.8 rebounds per game, shooting 62 percent from the field.

Wake Forest cut into the lead with a 3 from Austin Arians, and back-to-back plays from Bryant Crawford helped the Demon Deacons trim the lead down to 84-79 with 2:04 left to play.

Wake Forest hasn't been on this stage since 2010.

As Manning said after the game (from the Associated Press via ESPN.com), "For us, it's been a long, eventful season". "I'm never nervous for any game". The Cyclones have played like one of the best teams in the country ever since.
