Florida deputy saves jet skiers seconds before cruise ship hits them

Their harrowing incident was recorded by a passenger on board the Carnival Magic cruise ship as it barreled toward the two co-eds, who were enjoying their spring break.

"And the Port Canaveral Harbor Pilot Capt. Doug Brown who not only maintained communication with Deputy Primmer, but was able to safely veer the ship, which provided Deputy Primmer the extra seconds needed to save the young girls", he added.

The Canaveral Pilots Association also posted a number of photos on their Facebook page.

A 40-year-old man who authorities say battered a cabin mate while on a Carnival cruise ship in global waters now faces charges in Brevard County after the woman alerted the ship's security team. "Oh my god!... No, get in!" with another saying "Did we run over the jetski?". As Primmer approached, one of the jet skiers fell off the recreational watercraft and tried to get back on, at which point the Jet Ski overturned and both jet skiers ended up in the water, with the Carnival Magic fast approaching.

Thankfully, they were spotted by Primmer, who bravely steered his boat into the path of the ship and quickly pulled the two girls onboard.

Around 4:45 p.m., Brevard sheriff's deputy and member of the SeaPort Security Marine Unit Tanner Primmer traveled in a rescue boat to the women to bring them to safety.

Primmer, he said, "placed his life in peril without hesitation to rescue the Port visitors", Ivey said. "We were extremely lucky to have him there to help us", Allison Garrett wrote in a comment on the Brevard sheriff's post. "He was truly a hero yesterday,".
