Myrtle Beach, SC (WLTX) - The FBI has arrested a man suspected of being a white supremacist who they say talked about carrying out a Dylann Roof style attack.

Benjamin Thomas Samuel McDowell, 29, was arrested Wednesday after purchasing a.40 caliber Glock handgun and ammunition from an undercover Federal Bureau of Investigation agent.

The FBI arrested a SC man after he purchased an illegal handgun from an undercover FBI agent February 15.

Authorities started investigating McDowell after he threatened a synagogue on Facebook in December.

On January 5, McDowell posted an anti-Semitic message to his Facebook page that was critical of fellow white supremacists.

In an instant message on Facebook, McDowell requested an "iron", a code word for a firearm, the complaint against him said.

Court records show that since 2008, McDowell's criminal record included charges for assault and burglary.

Yet another major retailer has dropped Ivanka Trump's line from its website
A search of the retailer's website resulted in the message, "We were unable to find results for 'Ivanka Trump'". According to the 20-year-old, she believes Nordstrom is indirectly protesting President Trump's administration.

McDowell "voiced apparent frustration with other white supremacists, stating that screaming "white power" was not getting the job done", according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Roof was found guilty of murdering nine people inside Emanuel AME Church back in 2015.

"I've got the heart to do that s***, but I don't have the good training", he allegedly claims.

Benjamin McDowell, 29, told the undercover agent he had not planned any specific targets or dates for an attack but glorified Roof during conversation and on Facebook, according to a Federal Bureau of Investigation affidavit. "I want to do that (expletive)", McDowell said, according to the complaint. He went on to say, "If I could do something on a fucking big scale and write on the fucking building, or whatever, 'in the spirit of Dylann Roof". "I want to do that s-", McDowell stated.

McDowell believed the agent was someone who "handled problems for the Aryan nations", a South Carolina NBC affiliate reported. He was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm, which is illegal due to his pre-existing status as a felon on unrelated charges. He said they "ain't got the heart to fight for Yahweh like dylann roof".

WECT also reports that McDowell met with the undercover agent several times to purchase the gun and plan the killings. In his possession was marijuana, a cell phone, and a handgun and ammo sold to him by an undercover agent. Like, I got desire ... not for nobody else ... it just ...

On Wednesday, they met as planned, and McDowell allegedly bought a.40 caliber Glock and ammunition from the agent for about $109, the document states.
