American Girl will release its first ever official boy doll, a drummer named Logan Everett. He's the sidekick to Tenney Grant, American Girl's newest contemporary character, a Nashville singer/songwriter who's "finding the heart to be herself". Logan has short brown hair, gray eyes and his own drum set.
American Girl reportedly already has other male dolls in the works, with diverse ethnicities and backgrounds.
Each girl came with a "meet outfit", including accompanying accessories and a paperback book - the total packaging cost around $100 per doll. Some parents wanted a doll for their boys to play with, while girls were simply looking to diversify their collections.
American Girl recently celebrated its 30th anniversary and has expanded over the years into films, magazines and stores with boutiques. This will be a first for the Wisconsin toy company.Читайте также: Manchester City Women sign US captain Carli Lloyd
Officials defended the decision, noting that American Girl would never "change our dolls without careful consideration".
Fans who might have grown out of American Girl will also appreciate the company's reintroduction this year of Felicity from the Revolutionary War period.
