Being held since 2007, this year's is the fifth multinational exercise of Aman series.
"I also appreciate the enthusiastic and vigorous efforts of Pakistan Navy for successfully organising AMAN series of exercises since 2007", he added.
Navies of 37 countries are participating in AMAN-17, including Australia, China, Indonesia, Turkey, Russia, Sri Lanka, the United Kingdom, the Unites States and Japan.
He said threats like maritime terrorism, drug trafficking and piracy have reached global dimensions.He emphasised that cooperation between worldwide navies is imperative to counter these emerging threats.
British High Commissioner Thomas Drew CMG on Thursday termed the visit of HMS Daring, one of the UK's most advanced war ships, which has arrived Karachi to participate in Pakistan Navy's exercise "Aman 2017", another example of the strength and depth of the relationship between the two countries.
A multi-nation naval exercise, including warships from the US, Russia and China, kicked off in the Arabian Sea off Karachi on Friday as part of "Aman-17" being hosted by Pakistan.
Thirty-six countries are participating or observing the worldwide naval exercise.

The premier said he looks forward to a successful and rewarding exercise and thanked all participating countries for taking part in this endeavour of readiness for promotion of peace.
"Aim of this multi-national exercise is to display united resolve against terrorism and crimes in maritime domain", it said.

He said that the region was experiencing swift geo-strategic changes, which had provided Pakistan with diversified challenges but also many opportunities that mandated a secure environment not only within Pakistan but also in the region at large.
Vice admiral Husaini said the exercise would help work against human trafficking, narcotics smuggling, and terrorism in the region, Radio Pakistan reported. The exercise, bringing in various navies under one umbrella, has a growing number of participants.
The exercise will feature ships, aircraft, helicopters, Special Operations Forces (SOF), Explosives Ordinance Disposal (EOD), marines and observers from different navies. In 2015, only worldwide maritime conference was held.
